Upper School International Breakfast & Awards Assembly

Dear Upper School Parents,

This Friday, June 16 is our final day of school for the current school year and will include two significant annual upper school events: International Breakfast & Awards Assembly.

We’d like to invite all upper school parents to join us for these events as we celebrate the end of another fantastic school year at SCIS-Pudong.

  • International Breakfast – 8:30am: Upper school students will bring dishes from their home countries and cultures to share with their grade level classmates.
  • End-of-Year Awards Assembly – 10:00am:  Join us as we recognize students with academic and achievement awards and say farewell to our departing students and faculty. The assembly will also feature musical performances from students, and special guests you won’t want to miss!

A reminder that Friday is a half-day for students and after the assembly they will be dismissed with buses leaving at 11:30am. Students that are going home with parents and not taking the school bus must follow regular check-out procedures with the main office.

We look forward to seeing you all on Friday!

Dr. Volpe & Ms. Shanks

Lower School Field Day Information

Dear Parents,

This Wednesday, June 14 is our annual Field Day event for SCIS-Pudong Lower School students.  This event will be taking place outside on the sports field.  However, in the event of rain, the event will be moved indoors and take place in the Lower School gymnasium and Black Box.   On this day, all students in Grades 2-5 should wear their SCIS PE uniform, students in Prekindergarten-Grade 1 should wear their green activity shirt.   Students should also wear comfortable running shoes and consider bringing a change of clothes as some of the Field Day activities involve water.

During Field Day, students will be asked to “buddy up” with one friend, two friends or a small group to take part in 10 planned events that will provide them with opportunities to utilize their physical skills and abilities.  Of course, the primary purpose of this event is for students to have fun and enjoy participating in a range of activities with their peers while being encouraged by teachers and parents.

Field Day will begin with the “Dragon Sponge Relay,” where students will work together as a grade level class and use a sponge to transport water from one bucket to another.  Following the relay, students will then be free to participate in the events on the field (or in the gymnasium).   Parents who have not volunteered to assist in leading an activity station are free to move around and encourage the students as they participate in the various events.  Parents are also invited to join us for our Parent Appreciation BBQ from 11:50am – 12:30pm in the cafeteria.  Below is an overview of Field Day for Prekindergarten through Grade 2 students, as well as students in Grades 3-5.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Ruf at mruf@scis-china.org

We hope you will considering joining us for this fun event
GO DRAGONS!

Sincerely,

Mr. Ruf, Ms. Tarsi and Ms. Gale
